gvSIG-Fonsagua training in ANDA (EL Salvador)

During the first two weeks in October, iCarto has conducted a training for the Administración Nacional de Acueductos y Alcantarillados de El Salvador (ANDA), in which have been participated several technicians of the organization, other members of several related organizations in the water management field (ACUA, ADES, Madre Cría) and civil engeeniering students of the Universidad de El Salvador (UES).

This training had as main objective to train participants in the use of the tool gvSIG-Fonsagua, designed for diagnostic access and planning new water supply systems (GIS module-EPANET).

gvSIG-Fonsagua is an application developed under the project “Mejora de la gobernabilidad del agua en El Salvador a través del fortalecimiento institucional y ciudadano” funded by the AECID and made ​​between the NGO Ingeniería Sin Fronteras Cataluña, ANDA y el Centro de Defensa del Consumidor, iCarto in which participates through the Cartographic Engineering Laboratory of the University of A Coruña (Cartolab).

The project aims at the implementation of the Plan of Water Resource Management in the rural areas of El Salvador. It is now in the final stages of development, very oriented to the design part.

The training conducted, along with technical support and resolution of questions made ​​during the development of the entire project, ensure proper transfer of knowledge to local partners.
